Welcome to another one of our drawing tutorials. I am going to show you how I drew a Grim Reaper and how you can go about drawing it too. The Grim Reaper has been used in many comics and cartoons like family guy and south park many times.

The final result:

Here are a few small size images I made that you can use if you want:

Drawing the basic shape:

Lets begin. Open a new document, I used the size 800x800px with a white background. Start by drawing the shape as shown in the image below on a new layer, name it main layer:

Fill the shape with the color code: #434e40 and add a black stroke 1px.

Strokes, strokes and more strokes

Create a new layer call it strokes. Draw the path shown in the image below:

Keeping your foreground color black, stroke the path with your brush at 1px(we will be using 1px for all the strokes), and then delete it.

Create another path on the strokes layer, there is no need to create a new layer:

Stroke this path too, with black color, delete path:

Create another path on the strokes layer, there is no need to create a new layer:

Stroke this path too with black color,delete path:

Create another path on the strokes layer, there is no need to create a new layer:

Stroke this path too, with black color, delete path:

Create a new layer, name it face. Create this oval shape using the pen tool:

Fill the shape with the color code: #271a09 also add a stroke 1px black.

Go to the strokes layer, and draw this small path:

Drawing the Scythe

Draw this shape on a new layer, call it wood:

Fill it with the color code: #82572c

Draw this path on the strokes layer:

Add a black stroke to it and delete the path:

Create a new layer, call it blade, draw the shape as shown below:

Fill it with the color code: #aedde7 and add a stroke to the path, black color, 1px:

Create a new layer, call it blade light. Draw the shape as shown below:

Fill it with white color:

Apply the following layer style:

The result:

Draw a second shape on the blade light layer:

Fill it with white color, with the layer style already applied on this layer, it should start glowing on its own:

Create a new layer, draw the shape as shown:

Fill this shape with the color code: #271a09 add a stroke 1px, black:

The Hands

We are now going to draw the hands. Below are a few images that should guide you on what shapes to draw with the pen tool, they’re zoomed in so you can get the proper idea. Create a new layer, call it hand 1 and start drawing:

You can easily fill all the shapes now with white color in one go:

Add a stroke to the paths, black color:

Create a new layer, name it hand 2 and start drawing the second hand, just like you did with the other hand:

Once done, fill the paths with white color like you did with the other hand:

Then add a stroke, black color:

The shoes

On a new layer, call it shoe 1, draw this shape:

Fill it with yellow color and add a black stroke:

Duplicate the shoe 1 layer, it should create a shoe 1 copy. Move the shoe 1 layer(the original layer) as shown and you’ll have:

The final Result
