Tutorial on making shapes and more

How about a tutorial on making shapes?
There are quite a bit of pre set shapes I have downloaded to my PS but I want more and many I actually want to make myself but do not know how to save them.

Can shapes be saved in color or do they all need to be black and white?

How about gradients? How can I make a set of gradients and save them and then even share?

Brushes? Tutorial on brushes would be great! I have set some brushes myself and tried to save them but they just don't save.
I am SURE I'm missing something so simple but heck if I know what it is!

RE: Tutorial on making shapes and more
Well here is the thing, Photoshop 7, I dont remember so well, been a long time but I do recall having that option.

What you need to do is something like this:

Create a Path

Select the path (Not the Shape Layer Go into the paths section and select the PATH)

go into EDIT - define custom shape

it will come into your custom shapes window. Then click on the small arrow on the top of the window where the shapes are and click on save shapes and export them into a file. Whenever you need the shape just import the shapes by clicking load shapes.

Same method can be used for brushes.

RE: Tutorial on making shapes and more
Someone added a tutorial related to what you asked me this morning:

Title: How to make a brush and how to use it

http://www.surfnlearn.com/tutorial_out/4...to_use_it/

Thought it'd be useful.

Take care,
