Full Version: Confused about layers and editing in Photoshop CS4?

Seems like a simple problem, but I can't figure out how to do this: When I want to change an exposure setting, color balance, etc Photoshop will create a new layer for the adjustment and, thus, apply it all layers I'm working with. Is there a simple way to make it so that the adjustment is linked to a layer of my choosing? I know there must be; I must be missing something obvious. CS3 never did this, so I'm not used to it. Thanks for any help.
hide the other layers that you don't want to be affected by the adjustment. then, merge the adjustment layer and the layer you want to adjust
